Lubov Karetnikova obtained her studies in opera performance at Latvian Music Academy and Lithuanian Music and Theater University, as well as Lied and Oratorium Performance at Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She has studied in classes of such renowned singers as Barbara Bonney, Wolfgang Holzmair, and Irena Milkevičiute.
Born in the United States, Lubov grew up in Latvia, having Ukrainian and Russian heritage. She speaks several European languages freely, allowing her to sing a diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, and Poulenc to Rachmaninov and Weinberg.
In the season 2023/2024 Lubov is making her debut at Tiroler Festpiele Erl in Austria as Julliete Vermont in Franz Lehàr’s Operetta “Der Graf von Luxemburg”, as Fiordiligi in W.A.Mozart’s opera “Cosi fan tutte” in Teatri di Pistoia in Italy, as well as Adina and Gianetta in G.Donizetti’s opera “L’elisir d’amore” in
Latvian National Opera house.
Her operatic engagements also include Gilda in G. Verdi’s Opera “Rigoletto” in Theater-Hof, 2018/2019; Barbarina in W.A. Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Lithuanian Music Academy, 2019; Nannetta in G.Verdi’s opera “Falstaff” at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, 2019; Maria in L.Bernstein’s musical “Westside Story” at the Lithuanian Music Academy, 2019; Pamina in W.A. Mozart’s opera “Die Zauberflöte” at Trentino Festival, 2017.
Lubov has a broad Chamber music repertoire and has performed recitals in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Wagner Hall and Solitair Hall in Salzburg, Dzintari Concert Hall, Lat- vian National Theater and others.
Lubov is a semi-finalist in the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2023, and ARD Music Competition 2021, a Finalist in the Debut Competition Lied 2022, and a fellow of the Innopraktika Festival 2021 in St. Petersburg and 3—Internationale Opernwerkstatt Waiblingen 2022 with Thomas Hampson and Melanie Diener.
