Mezzosoprano
The young singer studied at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Moscow in 2005 to 2010 (Prof. Galina Pisarenko’s class). She performed Laura in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in the opera studio under the Moscow State Conservatory. In 2012, she graduated from the Popov Academy of Choral Art (Prof. Dmitry Vdovin’s class). In 2015, she completed her assistantship in the Academy. In 2007 to 2009, the singer attended the Moscow International Vocal School where she studied with Giandomenico Bisi and Gloria Guido (Italy), George Darden, Diane Zola and Richard Bado (the USA). She also participated in the masterclasses of Semyon Skigin, Maria Guleghina, Carol Vaness, Irina Bogacheva, Brigitte Fassbaender, Krassimira Stoyanova to name a few. The singer joined the Novaya Opera in 2010. She made her first appearance at the Bolshoi Theatre in Banevich’s The Story of Kai and Gerda(the vocal part of Little Robber Girl) in 2014.
She has been awarded at several competitions, including second prize and special prize for the best performance of Russian music at the International Competition Francisco Viñas in Barcelona, 2016.
She is soloist of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow, where seh has performed past as Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Kontchakovna (Prince Igor), Vanya (A Life for the Tsar), Fenena (Nabucco) and Spring (The Snow Maiden).
On the concert stage has performed in Verdi’s Requiem in Locarno and Milan, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in her home town of Yaroslavl, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Karl Jenkins’ Mass The Armed Man in Moscow.
In 2017 Yulia performed Amelfa (The Golden Cockerel) at the Concertgebouw, Geneviève (Pelléas et Mélisande) in Oviedo in 2018, and Bersi (Andrea Chénier) in Barcelona in 2018 with Jonas Kaufmann as Andrea Chénier. In Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Festival last year sang Delilah (Samson and Delilah), and most recent project include the role of Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera) in Tel Aviv with Israeli Opera.
Other engagements include the roles of Olga (Eugene Onegin), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Tangia (Le Cinesi by Gluck), Polina (The Queen of Spades) and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia) as well as the productions of War and Peace by Prokofiev with the role of Sonya, and Iolanta by Tchaikovsky, singing the role of Laura.
