Anja Schlosser grew up in Bavaria and completed her vocal studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, where she studied concert voice, opera, and song and oratorio with Ingrid Mayr, Therésè Lindquist and Wolfgang Holzmair and graduated with honors in 2007. She attended master classes with Robert Holl, Julie Kaufmann, Lilian Sukis, Barbara Bonney, Francisco Araiza and Angelika Kirchschlager.
At the 2006 Salzburg Festival she sang the role of Apollo in Mozart’s Apollo et Hyacinthus, recorded on DVD by Deutsche Grammophon and made with this role her debut in Korea on a tour of the Staatstheater Darmstadt.
In 2007 she was a prize winner at the Francisco Vinas International Singing Competition in Barcelona (special prize for best performer of oartorio-lied, third prize for female voice) and the Renata Tebaldi competition in San Marino. She has also won scholarships from the Oper Schloss Laubach and the Richard Wagner Society.
She has performed at Munich’s Gasteig Philharmonic Hall, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Konzerthaus Berlin, Rheingoldhalle Mainz, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Stadtcasino Basel and the Great National Concert Hall of Taipeh in addition to making concert tours to the USA, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Poland, Taiwan and Korea under the baton of conductors like Hansjörg Albrecht, Helmuth Rilling, Justus Frantz, Dennis Russel Davies, Jeffrey Kahane, Marin Alsop and Christoph Poppen.
In 2009, after one year with the International Opera Studio of Zurich, she became a cast member at the Zurich Opera House, where she performed such roles as Wellgunde and Siegrune in Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Fyodor in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Innkeeper’s Daughter in Humperdinck’s Königskinder, Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata, 2. Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Diana in Haydn’s La fedeltá premiata and Lubanara in Mozart’s Der Stein der Weisen, Page in Salome under conductors like Philippe Jordan, Ingo Metzmacher, Marco Armiliato, Christoph von Dohnányi, Adam Fischer, Marc Minkowski, Carlo Rizzi, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Zsolt Hamar and Paolo Carignani.
Beside her engagement in Zurich she was this year invited by the Stadttheater Bern to perform the role of Brigitta in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt, and Teatro Maestranza Sevilla for Siegrune, Walküre.
In 2012 she had her debut at the Aalto Theater Essen as Olga in Eugene Onegin. In season 2012/13 she returned as a cast member, performing such roles as Orlovsky, Olga, Dryade, Suzuki and Cherubino and had her debut as a guest at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Oper Köln and also at Opéra Bastille Paris, where she sang Wellgunde and Roßweiße in Der Ring der Nibelungen, conducted by Phillippe Jordan.
In summer 2012 she also returned to the Salzburg Festival, where she appeared as 2.Lady under the baton of Nikolaus Harnoncourt (DVD released by Sony.
